Hildegard Müller is a prominent business leader with extensive experience in the automotive, energy, and political sectors. She completed her apprenticeship as a bank clerk at Dresdner Bank AG in Düsseldorf (1987–1989) and graduated in Business Administration from Heinrich-Heine-Universität Düsseldorf in 1994.
Her career spans diverse leadership roles.
Since February 2020, she has served as the President of the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA). Previously, she was Chief Operating Officer for Grid & Infrastructure at innogy SE (2016–2019) and CEO of BDEW e.V. (2008–2016), representing the German energy and water industries. From 2005 to 2008, she held the position of Minister of State to the Chancellor and was a Member of the German Parliament from 2002 to 2008.
Müller’s additional roles include memberships on various supervisory and advisory boards, such as Siemens Energy Management, Vonovia SE, and HSBC Continental Europe.
Notably, she serves as Chairwoman of the Senate of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft and is a member of the Presidential Council of DEKRA SE.
