Juan Carlos Echeverry

Dr. Juan Carlos Echeverry is one of Colombia’s and Latin America most distinguished economists and policy makers. During his career he has served in the highest positions in both the Central Bank and the government and has been key in formulating the pivotal legislation and policy initiatives that have shaped Colombia’s investment story.

He is a partner of EConcept, a financial consulting firm based in Bogota and a Washington DC. And a partner of Global Source, a New York based  consulting firm focusing on emerging markets worldwide.

Dr. Echeverry was CEO of Ecopetrol, the state-owned oil company and the largest corporation of Colombia (NYSE: EC), and minister of finance. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from New York University.

He is an expert on regulatory issues in the financial, energy and telecommunications industries and has served on the boards of several major companies, including Credicorp Capital, Khiron, Suramericana, Mazda, Holcim, Celsia and Ecopetrol in Bogotá. In 2019 he published the novel En sitiosmásoscuros, and during 2021 he ran for the Colombian presidency.

Dr. Echeverry has published a book on the experiences of his presidential campaign, and a novel. He is a noted speaker.
