Thomas Finkbeiner

Dr. Thomas Finkbeiner earned his MD from Eberhard-Karl University Tuebingen, Germany, and is board certified in pediatrics and emergency medicine. He worked with Doctors Without Borders (MSF) on multiple missions for almost 10 years before completing a Master in Public Health at Tulane University, New Orleans, LA, USA, with a focus on international health and healthcare financing.

He then joined the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) through their epidemiological fellowship program, EIS, in 2004 and worked in the Global AIDS Program. In 2006, he moved to Tanzania with CDC as chief for HIV Care & Treatment for the PEPFAR program. During his tenure, the number of patients on lifesaving ART grew from a few thousand to over 300,000.

In 2012, he started his own medical consultancy firm, Capsele, out of Tanzania and opened the German office in 2017, focusing mainly on digital health solutions to improve access to healthcare. Capsele developed and licensed an online platform for telemedicine consultations named AFYACA in Tanzania.
